Why would you want to set up a website? The obvious answer is -- to expose your business to another media; the Internet.
Whether you want to make your presence felt, advertise your business, or sell a product, the Internet is the way to go!
These are my 7 top reasons why you should set up residence on the Internet, if you haven't already done so.
- The Internet is the way of the Future
In just the last 24 hours, the web has added 5,520,000 new pages, 104,000,000,000 new bytes of text, 1,240,000 new images, and 20,700,000,000 new bytes of image data. (The Censorware Project, Oct. 23, 2000).
What do all these numbers means? It means the web is roughly doubling in size every year.
- The Internet operates daily, 365 days a year
What better way to advertise yourself, your organization and/or your product online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Economical
The Internet is a cost effective means of reaching a global audience.
- Updating on the Internet is as easy as 1, 2, and 3
The traditional high cost of updating information is no longer an issue. Imagine cutting down on staffing, printing, and distributing costs. Now you can update your site at frequent intervals and it is efficient, quick, and easy.
- Good customer-business relationship
The Internet foster customer relationships. Customers can browse your site at their convenience for your organization profile, services, to place an order, to make a suggestion, or to ask a question.
- More power to the little people
Smaller organizations can create the same presence on the net as the larger organizations. Remember that millions of your potential customers browse the web daily.
- Another good way to advertise your business
You can now place your web address (www.yourcompany.com) on your business cards & advertisements and spread it through word of with ease.
The Internet is the fastest growing interactive media. "Shopping on the Internet is no longer a luxury, it's a competitive necessity for retailers, consumers, and manufacturers" in the year 2000, asserts Miles Faulkner, principal with Ernst & Young's Customer Connections and Strategic Services.
A survey conducted by Ernst & Young which polled 850 consumers, 150 retailers and 150 consumer products manufacturers in the US found that 32 percent of consumers with online access have purchased products or services on the Internet. 64 percent of those with Internet access research products online and later buy them through traditional means.
The survey reveals that the main reason consumers shop online is the convenience, along with variety and cost savings. "The ability to shop, research and view potential purchases on the web is a potent weapon in the hands of shoppers," Faulkner asserts, "And one that can no longer be ignored, especially as we enter the next century."
Another interesting and surprising finding of Internet trend conducted by Leger Marketing found that "the proportion of Internet users is greater in Canada than in the US. Canadians are the third biggest Internet users in the world, only to be preceded by Norway and Denmark. In fact, 60% of Canadian use the Internet compared to 57% of Americans."
So what are you waiting for? Don't let your profits and clients slip away! It will be the best investment you will ever made.
